How To's? - The iPhone 3GS!

iPhone ..aaahh What an amazing Device. The Phone that revolutionized the “Cell Phone Industry”, the Phone that changed the conception of how a “Cell Phone” should be. Thanks to my Elder Brother I have one now :)
There are quite a few things I noticed while migrating from my old Samsung Star 3G to the iPhone 3GS, some I had the answers to, some I Googled, Some were only for MAC but not for our good'ol Windows. I noted down all these & will be updating on this page! So here goes.

1-> How to Transfer contact from Outlook to iPhone?.
The 1st thing everyone does after getting their hands on a new phone is Transferring Contacts. Well even I was planning to do that, but the question was how. Well one would say, just copy the contacts on to the Sim Card & move them, but that only works when you have a contact list of 200-250. What if the list is more & in my case a good 370 with 2-3 numbers assigned to a single contact. In that case we need to do the below.
Install your old phones PC Suite & get the Outlook Address Book synced with it. Once this is done, open up Outlook & do the blow mentioned steps (depending on your version 2003 / 2007. If you have any prior to these, it’s HIGH TIME YOU UPGRADED! ) :P

I have Office 2007, so the screen shots provided are for 2007 :P

Outlook 2003

1. In Outlook, choose Tools > Options.
2. Click Other and then click Advanced Options.
3. Select COM add-ins and select the iTunes sync add-in and click OK.
4. Click Apply and then continue with the steps below.

Outlook 2007

1. In Outlook, choose Tools > Trust Center.
2. In the Categories pane, click Add-ins.
3. In the Details pane, locate the iTunes add-in in the "Inactive Application Add-ins" list.
4. In the Manage box, click COM Add-ins, and then click Go.
5. In the COM Add-Ins dialog box, select the iTunes sync add-in.
6. Click OK.

Once this is done, open up your iTunes & connect the iPhone to PC. Once iTunes is done Syncing the phone, go to the “Info” Tab & check mark the option that says “Sync contacts with Outlook” & then press Sync.

That’s it; you have all your contacts in your iPhone :)

Well that’s all for now, I’ll be updating the blog sometime soon, with more stuff.
Till then Tata.
